Instead of receiving the ratecon directly from the TMS, carriers are routed through a secure Highway portal. This helps prevent fraud, reduce risk, and create more accountability between brokers and carriers.
🚛 What Does the Carrier Experience Look Like?
When a load is sent using Highway Secure RateCon, the carrier does not receive the ratecon as a direct attachment. Instead, they receive an email from Highway prompting them to log in to view and accept the rate confirmation.
Example Email:
Sender: hello@highway.com
Carriers receive a message saying you have issued a Rate Confirmation.
They’ll be directed to a secure web page portal like the one below:
On that page, the carrier can review the rate confirmation details and click “Accept Terms”. This acts as their formal acceptance of the load and forms the legal agreement between the broker and the carrier.
🔄 How Does It Work?
This process is powered by Highway acting as a secure intermediary between your TMS and the carrier.
Here's how it’s set up:
Your TMS sends the ratecon to Highway instead of the carrier.
The ratecon must be emailed to:
dot<carrier DOT number>@highway.com
(e.g., dot12345@highway.com for DOT #12345)
The load reference number must be included in the email subject line to match the load in Highway’s system.
Highway then notifies the carrier and manages the secure login and acceptance process.
🔐 Why Highway Secure RateCon?
Reduce fraud risk by requiring login verification before a carrier can accept a load
Ensure carrier identity with Highway’s authentication process
Digitally document acceptance to support contracts and compliance
