When Does CoDriver Negotiate?
CoDriver initiates negotiation when a carrier submits a quote above your Book Now rate (Note a Book Now rate is required in order to have CoDriver negotiate). It applies one of several strategies (see below) based on load‑specific factors and negotiates once per carrier per load. If successful, a new quote is created and the original quote is rescinded.
When Negotiation Won’t Occur
Negotiation will not occur if any of the following conditions apply:
The load is within two hours of pickup.
There is no Book Now rate set.
The carrier’s quote is equal to or lower than the Book Now rate.
When Negotiation Stops
Negotiation ends early if:
A rep manually counters before the carrier responds.
The load is archived.
An alternate load is offered to the carrier (CoDriver does not negotiate on alternate loads).
Negotiation Strategies
CoDriver uses a mix of strategies to mimic the assertive style of your best broker. It checks which strategies are viable and randomly selects one. Additional strategies can be added or tweaked in the future.
Small Margin from Book Now (Outlier): Used when the carrier quote is ≥ $80 above your Book Now rate.
Example phrase: “Let’s not lose this one for {price_delta} bucks”.
Sense of Urgency: Encourages carriers to act quickly. Always viable when the quote is < $50 above Book Now.
Example phrase: “If you want it, you need to be at {book_now_rate}”.
Reference Other Carrier Quotes: Indicates competition by referencing other offers. Viable when the load has been quoted three or more times and the quote is < $50 above Book Now.
Example Phrase: “It looks like we already have some competitive offers on that one. Come down to {book_now_rate} so we can lock you in?”.
Direct Ask to Lower: A straightforward request for a lower price. Always viable when the quote is < $50 above Book Now.
Example Phrase: “Need you to come down a bit. What’s your best?”.
Odd‑Number Counter Offer: Suggests a non‑rounded price to feel more natural. Always viable when the quote is < $50 above Book Now. CoDriver starts with the Book Now rate, adds a small random bump (bigger bumps for higher rates), ensures the price never goes below Book Now or above your max rate, and avoids ending in 0 or 5.
Example: Book Now = $1 600, Max = $1 650 → Negotiation Price = $1 647.
Example Phrase:
"Alright, I think I can get {negotiation_price} for you."
"If you can meet me there, I can push for approval."
