How Does a Cascade Work?
Updated over 2 years ago

What happens when I ‘activate’ a Cascade?

  • I’m running a San Francisco, CA to Los Angeles, CA Flatbed lane

  • I create a Cascade on the lane with the following setup

    • Carrier A, Carrier B, and Carrier C are in my top tier - at a rate of $1200, with an exclusivity period of 90 minutes

    • Carrier D and Carrier E are in my second tier - at a rate of $1300, with an exclusivity period of 60 minutes

If a load comes into our system that matches the lane (and any additional specific matching criteria, if provided), then the load will immediately and automatically be offered for Book Now via e-mail to Carrier A, Carrier B, and Carrier C for $1200.

Carrier A, Carrier B, and Carrier C will have exclusive access to book the load for $1200 for 90 minutes. Any of these carriers can click through the e-mail to go into Quickview to confirm the load details and digitally book the load.

If the load is not booked by any of these carriers (in your top tier) and the 90 minutes have elapsed, then the load will be offered via e-mail to Carrier D and Carrier E at a rate of $1300.

What if my top-tier carriers miss their allotted load offer exclusivity period?

Carriers in preceding tiers will still be able to book a load when their `exclusivity period’ has expired.

Let’s build off the example above; if Carrier A received the load offer more than 90 minutes ago and the load is still available for booking (meaning no other carrier has claimed it), then they can still book the load.

Naturally, as you work down the Cascade the pool of carriers who can digitally book the load widens.

Can I use a carrier in a Cascade more than once?

Absolutely, you can use a carrier more than once in a Cascade as long as they are on different tiers.

As a new offer is created for the same carrier on a sequential tier, the old offer to the carrier is expired and only the most recent offer is honored.

How do I get access to Cascade?

In order to have access to Cascade, you will have to have an active CM+ subscription. Reach out to your customer success manager for more information.
